Olfyne

Regulatory Compliance

Screening built into every formula

Every composition on Olfyne is screened in real time as ingredients are added — not as an afterthought. Problems surface before a formula reaches sampling or production.

IFRA Compliance Screening

Every ingredient is screened in real time against the IFRA Standards Library (51st Amendment). Category-specific concentration limits are enforced per product type for all currently in-force standards, with automatic flagging when a material exceeds its permitted level.

EU Fragrance Allergen Declaration

Full coverage of Regulation (EU) 2023/1545 — all 83 labelled and prohibited allergen entries. The engine calculates in-product percentages from dose rate and raw-material composition, comparing against leave-on (0.01%) and rinse-off (0.1%) declaration thresholds. Prohibited substances trigger a hard-fail that blocks the formula from proceeding.

REACH SVHC Tracking (Article 33)

Ingredients are checked against the 253 substances on ECHA’s official Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern. When a substance is present above the 0.1% w/w threshold, Article 33 communication obligations are flagged automatically.

CLP Classification

Hazard classification and labelling determined per Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008. GHS pictograms, signal words, and H-statements are derived from ingredient hazard data and mixture classification rules.

Automated SDS Generation

Safety Data Sheets are generated from the formula’s composition and regulatory data. Section 3 (composition/information on ingredients), Section 11 (toxicological information), and Section 15 (regulatory information) are populated automatically.

Compliance-Aware Reformulation

When an ingredient fails a compliance check, the reformulation engine suggests scent-similar substitutes that pass. Recommendations are ranked by olfactory similarity using mapped scent-family relationships across the materials library — not bare removal, but like-for-like replacement that preserves the creative intent.

Data Sources

Regulatory data is sourced from IFRA (Standards Library, 51st Amendment), ECHA (SVHC Candidate List, CLP classification), and the Official Journal of the European Union (Regulation (EU) 2023/1545 on fragrance allergens, EC 1223/2009 Annexes). Data is synced periodically and versioned.
